Gemilang Latif Associates was established in 1999. It was founded by Mr. Mahri Latif who set up Gemilang Latif Associates (GLAS)
during the economy down-turn in South-east Region in 1997.
Our objective is to ensure that any property to be invested is developed cost- effectively, efficiently and has a long-term sustainability
GLAS philosophy came from the traditional background of the standard human measurement. We discover and evolute the method of ‘depa' or ‘dapa' and ‘sirang' as the main concept ingredient in the design process. Thus this reflects the identity of Gemilang Latif Associates (GLAS) in bringing up the sustaining features of the Malay architecture. This made GLAS unique and different than others.
GLAS endeavour in the preservation of any architectural monuments in particular for any 2*listed building (historical building). This will ensure our heritage and all historical values are safeguarded for the future generation.
GLAS is also sensitive to the current world issue in particular, the issue of Global Warming. We challenge ourselves in producing eco-friendly designs. Factors such as energy and the choice of material are carefully taken into consideration with the idea of using and reusing whatever is necessary. This is in the hope of reducing unnecessary waste, heat, energy and less carbon emission being released into the air.
GLAS is working in a team. Within a small group, we share knowledge, experimenting new approach and exploring new ideas to produce design excellence and quality products.
GLAS is committed in producing quality local human capacity in technical field, innovative and design creativity. We are very proud that GLAS can contribute to the industry, through giving work placement and support ground for technical students from MTSSR, MKJB, ITB, Vokasional Schools and Universities to be attached inside the firm.
GLAS is a fully registered Architect firm with the Ministry of Development, Brunei Darussalam since its establishment. In 2009, the practice was upgraded as a listed Architect Consultant.
